‎Haba war Schüler des Prager Konservatoriums und von Schreker in Wien. Er war ein Verfechter des Viertelton-Systems in dem er Streichquartette, Phantasien, Chöre und Lieder komponierte. Er schrieb auch diverse Werke im 1/6-Tonsystem. 1945 übernahm er die Leitung der neugegründeten Smetana-Oper in Prag.‎
