Analyse d'ouvrages - Gottlob Frege (né le 8 novembre 1848 à Wismar mort le 26 juillet 1925 à Bad Kleinen), de son nom complet Friedrich Ludwig Gottlob Frege, est un mathématicien, logicien et philosophe allemand, créateur de la logique moderne et plus précisément du calcul propositionnel moderne : le calcul des prédicats. Il est en outre considéré comme l'un des plus importants représentants du logicisme. C'est à la suite de son ouvrage Les Fondements de l'arithmétique, où il tente de dériver l'arithmétique de la logique, que Russell lui a fait parvenir le paradoxe qui porte son nom. Néanmoins Frege n'entendait nullement réduire le raisonnement mathématique à sa seule dimension logique. Son idéographie visait à associer sur la même page, et de manière explicite, le contenu mathématique (ligne horizontale de la page) et la structure logique (ligne verticale). - En 1873, Frege obtient son doctorat sous la direction d'Ernst Christian Julius Schering, avec une thèse intitulée Ueber eine geometrische Darstellung der imaginären Gebilde in der Ebene (Sur une représentation géométrique des formes imaginaires dans le plan), dans laquelle il vise à résoudre des problèmes fondamentaux de géométrie comme, par exemple, donner une interprétation mathématique des points infiniment distants (imaginaires) de la géométrie projective. (source : Wikipedia) - Ole Christensen Rømer (ou Römer, ou Rmer) (1644-1710) est un astronome danois, qui a travaillé à l'Observatoire de Paris dès 1671. Il fit l'hypothèse que la lumière avait une vitesse finie, précisant qu'il fallait 22 minutes à la lumière pour parcourir une distance égale au diamètre de l'orbite de la Terre. À son époque, ce diamètre n'était pas connu avec précision, et l'on sait maintenant que la lumière met un peu plus de 16 minutes pour parcourir le diamètre de l'orbite terrestre et non 22 minutes. Son calcul lui permit néanmoins de donner une vitesse de la lumière de 220 000 kilomètres par seconde, valeur à 26,5 % près de celle fixée actuellement (299 792,458 km/s), même si nous l'arrondissons souvent 3 ×105 km/s. ‎This set comprises the entire ""Logische Untersuchungen"" in the first English language translations. In the foreword to ""Compound Thoughts"", the translator notes: ""This article, entitled ""Logische Untersuchungen. Dritter Teil: Gedankenfüge"", was published in the ""Beiträge zur Philosophie des deutschen Idealismus, III (1923), 36-51. The first two parts of these ""logical investigations"" were ""Der Gedanke"" (Beiträge I (1819), trans. ""The Thought"" in MIND LXV (1956) ) and ""Die Verneinung"" (Beiträge I (1919), trans. ""Negation"" in Geach and Black (ed.) ""Translations from the Philosophical Writings of Gottlob Frege.""). The three articles that constitute the Logical Investigations are some of the most important, influential and widely discussed of Frege's philosophical papers. In 1875 the entire ""Logical Investigations"" appeared together in English translation for the first time. It was Frege's wish that these three articles were viewed as a whole and published together under the title of ""Logische Untersuchungen"", now considered a work of the utmost importance. These three volumes also comprise many other articles by Frege in the first English translations (in Translations from the Philosophical Writings of Gottlob Frege) as well as original contributions by P.T. Geach: ""On Frege's Way Out"" (in Mind Vol. LXV, No. 259. and ""Mr. Strawson on Symbolic and Traditional Logic"" (in Mind Vol. LXXII, No. 285).Friedrich Ludwig Gottlob Frege (1848 - 1925) was a German mathematician, but his main contributions lie in his becoming a logician and a philosopher, who influenced the fields of logic and analytic philosophy immensely. Together with Wittgenstein, Russel and Moore, Frege is considered the founder of analytic philosophy, and a main founder of modern mathematical logic. His influence on 20th century philosophy has been profound, especially in the English speaking countries from the middle of the 20th century and onwards; in this period most of his works were translated into English for the first time.The philosophical papers of Frege were published in Germany in scholarly journals, which were barely read outside of German speaking countries. The first collections of his writings did not appear untill after the the Second World War, and Frege was little known as a philosopher during his lifetime. He greatly influenced the likes of Russel, Wittgenstein and Carnap, though, and bears a great responsibility for the turn modern philosophical thought has taken. ‎Importante édition grecque établie par le grand philologue allemand Johann Gottlob Schneider (1750-1822). On trouve à la suite la traduction du grec en latin par le poète David Peifer (1530-1602). On sait peu de choses sur l'auteur des Halieutiques, mais il ne faut pas le confondre avec Oppien de Syrie, auteur des Cynégétiques. Bon exemplaire (dos très lég. frotté). ‎The very rare first French edition of this important work on Danish demography and economy. The work is an augmented translation of the second half of ""Über das königliche Dänische Indigenatrecht und einige andere Gegenstände der Staatswissenschaft und Geschichte"" from 1779, by the same author.The work contains tables that show the current demographical situation in Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Schleswig, Holstein, Oldenburg, and Delmenhorst, as well as the economic situation and development of the Kingdom of Denmark, e.g. an aspect of the trade-relation between the Kingdom of Denmark and that of England from 1698 till 1754. The work is thus highly interesting in several regards. It is one of the earliest works to deal with the question of the right of citizenship in Denmark and an early account and analysis of the economic situation of the country. The work must also be one of the first to seriously treat the demographical aspect of Denmark, as the first census in Denmark took place in 1769, and the second in 1787, being the only conts of the entire population of the Kingdom of Denmark conducted before the 19th century.Gottlob Benedikt von Schirach (1743 - 1804) was the son of the theologist Christian Gottlob Schirach. G.B. Schirach was a German historian and Danish counsellor of legation. He published a number of books within the fields of history and economics, due to which he came to be regarded as one of the most important writers of his time. Les dos ont des bandes surélevées et sont en bon état, mais il n'y a aucun signe qu'il y ait jamais eu un titre sur eux. A l'intérieur, les livres portent quelques noms et notes à l'encre sur les pages de garde, des résidus de cire de scellement et un petit tampon (peut-être celui d'une bibliothèque) qui a été barré. Inside the books have some contemporary ink names and notes to front blanks, plus some sealing wax residue, and a small stamp (perhaps from a library) that has been crossed through.
