Vittorio Pica (1864-1930) débute sa carrière littéraire à 18 ans en publiant un essai sur les frères Goncourt. Directeur de la revue d'art Emporium à partir de 1900, cet ami fidèle d'Edmond fut également l'un des initiateurs de la Biennale de Venise. Exemplaire enrichi d'un envoi autographe signé de Nunzio Ruggiero, qui présente cette édition, à Alain Barbier Sainte Marie.‎
