The photogravures represent art objects from Lyonese public and private collections; sculpture, furniture, embroidery, textile, weaponry... Very early example of a book illustrated with photogravures by the Parisian photographer Paul Dujardin. J.B. Giraud states in the introduction of his publication that he strived for the best quality in reproduction ; ''...nous avons mis à contribution les procédés les plus nouveaux et les plus parfaits de reproduction. Le procédé d'héliogravure Dujardin que nous avons employé....''. We could not establish which photo reproduction process A. Dujardin (brother of Paul Dujardin ?) used for this early example of photogravure ; and if it had any relation with the Karel Klic [Klietch] process allegedly invented on New Year's eve 1877."
