Un des 25 exemplaires numérotés sur vélin pur fil Lafuma-Navarre, seul tirage en grand papier.Étude sur Goethe parue dans la revue L’Ermitage de 1900 à 1903, à l’époque où Gide fréquentait assidument son beau-frère. C’est le seul ouvrage du germaniste Marcel Drouin (1870-1943), l'un des six fondateurs de la Nrf, dont Gide déplore en préface le caractère ombrageux et la paresse.‎
