‎Rare exemplaire de l'édition originale des chansons du traducteur d'Aristote et poète latin Pietro Gherardi di Borgo San Sepolcro. L'humaniste et poète français Marc-Antoine Muret lui écrira un long poème : "Ad Petrum Gerardium". Quant au philologue et humaniste italien né en Toscane à San Sepolcro, Roberto Titi (1551-1609), il n'a que 20 ans lorsqu'il publie ses chansons à la suite de celles de Gherardi. Etabli à Florence, une vive querelle l'opposera à Scaliger ; il obtiendra une place de professeur à Bologne et finira sa vie à Pise, invité par le Grand Duc Ferdinand. Bon état (une piqûre de vers, reliure lég. frottée, qq. petites mouill., bon exemplaire à toutes marges par ailleurs) pour cette belle impression florentine. Rare copy of the first edition of the songs of the translator of Aristotle and Latin poet, Pietro Gherardi di Borgo San Sepolcro. The French humanist and poet Marc-Antoine Muret wrote him a long poem: “Ad Petrum Gerardium”. The other Italian philologist and humanist born in Tuscany in San Sepolcro, Roberto Titi (1551-1609)was only 20 years old when he published his songs following those of Gherardi. Established in Florence, a heated quarrel pitted him against Scaliger; he obtained a professorship in Bologna and ended his life in Pisa, invited by the Grand Duke Ferdinand. Good condition (a worm hole, slightly rubbed binding, a few small waterstains, good copy with all margins elsewhere) for this beautiful Florentine print.‎
