This work, originally written and published in 1688, is translated into english from the original by Herbert Stanley O'Neill . "As the reader will see, Gervaise was a most outspoken man, who wrote down what he considered to be the truth concerning everyone with whom he came into contact, telling "the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth." One will come across passages not all complimentary to the siamese, their religion or their customs." (Extract of the Preface by the author).
