‎Expo: 07/04/2016 - 18/09/2016, Museo di Santa Giulia, Brescia. Christo and Jeanne-Claude. Water Projects, edited by Germano Celant in collaboration with con CVJ Corporation, is the title of the catalogue (published in English and Italian) released on the occasion of the exhibition by the same title, opening in Brescia at the Santa Giulia Museum, April 7, 2016. The catalogue will include Christo and Jeanne-Claude?s realized and not realized large-scale projects from 1961 to 2016. Besides the famous wrapped monuments, from the Kunsthalle in Bern (1967-1968) to the Reichstag in Berlin (1971-1995), the publication also includes the barriers made with barrels or with fabric, from Wall of Oil Barrells - The Iron Curtain in Paris (1961-62) to Valley Curtain in Rifle, Colorado (1960-62), the great inflatable objects, from 42,390 Cubic Feet Package of Minneapolis (1966) to 5600 Cubicmeter Package, Project for documenta IV in Kassel (1967- 1968), and the fabric pathways, such as Wrapped Walk Ways in Kansas City (1977-1978), or doors, such as The Gates in New York (1979-2005). The seven Water Projects ? Christo and Jeanne-Claude?s installations sharing a connection with water ? are considered in further depth. In these projects, from Running Fence, Sonoma and Marin Counties, California (1972-1976) to Over the River, project for the Arkansas River, State of Colorado (dal 1992), the artists worked establishing a close connection with natural, suburban and urban landscapes which all share a relation with water, be it an ocean, a sea, a lake or a river. Among the Water Projects we must mention The Floating Piers, an installation opening June18 to July 3, 2016, which will allow visitors to walk across Lake Iseo and along its shores on a 3-kilometre route. By means of modular floating piers covered in shimmering yellow fabric, the installation will link the town of Sulzano on the lake?s shores, to Monte Isola, also reaching the Island of San Paolo. Every work included in the catalogue will be accompanied by an explanatory text with all the relevant technical and historical information, along with preparatory drawings, collages, scale models, and photographic documentation of the project?s phases of ideation, preparation and realization. The catalogue, besides a rich photographic section, includes an introductory text by Germano Celant and a dialogue between the curator and Christo. The volume also comprises the artists? biography and a complete list of projects, bibliography and filmography. ‎

‎The world-renowned British sculptor Tony Cragg is an intriguing combination of artist and scientist, chemist and alchemist, believer and sceptic, whose work has had an immense influence on a whole younger generation of post-formalist sculptors. Born in Liverpool in 1949, Cragg abandoned his scientific background to pursue a career as an artist, and has, over the course of some twenty-five years, evolved a prodigious oeuvre, exhibiting widely and earning international acclaim. His remarkable and extensive body of sculpture, astonishingly diverse, ranges from early works in natural elements to large-scale plastic and wood assemblages, from metal-spiked pieces to smooth, sensual bronzes. This exceptional study of Cragg's sculpture, the fullest and most comprehensive to date, provides a thorough visual survey of work dating from the early 1970s to the present day, tracing the artist's development from his formative years at the Wimbledon School of Art through his conceptual, rather than stylistic, evolution of a sculptural vernacular. Following an introductory critique from Germano Celant, there is an extensive plates section focusing on individual works, bringing out the unique shape, colour and texture of each piece. Interwoven with the photographs are reflections from the artist himself, lending insight and understanding to his methods and motivations. A full reference section, with a short biography, a list of works, an exhibition history and select bibliography, concludes the monograph.‎

‎Visual artist, choreographer, writer and director, Jan Fabre has been one of the most influential figures on the European scene for over twenty years. His provocative forays into all different art forms are aimed at breaking down the artistic and moral barriers of his times. Published on the occasion of the exhibition of Fabres works at the MAXXI in Rome, the monograph brings together, for the first time, the action art and performances of the Belgian artist from the 70s to the present: drawings, thinking models, collages, films, photos and other documentation that lay the groundwork for a rediscovery of dozens of Fabres performances and interventions, both public and private, held in Belgium and abroad. The extreme, even brazen exploration of the human body, which frequently scandalizes viewers, is linked to the idea of metamorphosis, which Fabre may have derived from that passion for the sciences he inherited from his great-grandfather, the esteemed entomologist Jean-Henri Fabre. Jan Fabre has devoted much of his career to studying the human body and its transfiguration, central themes in his work ‎

‎Ten years after his last anthological exhibition, a new reading of his creative path through the different phases of his brief but nevertheless intense career (1956-1963). English edition. The 250 works on display document Piero Manzoni?s production, from the canvases covered with tar of 1956-57, to the Achrome (French word for ?colourless?) of 1958 in which the use of materials unusual in painting is combined with the research of rigorous formal structures. At the same time he creates objects involving the materiality of human body, such as Fiati d?artista and the tins of Merda d?artista. The expositive path is enriched by the presentation of the international artistic and historical context in which Manzoni worked and with which he had to deal, highlighting his decisive contribution.‎

‎ The book will accompany a traveling exhibition having a first venue at Bonnefanten Museum in Maastricht and then going to Berlin, Lausanne and Rome. Few architects were as intensely occupied with making architecture itself the subject as Aldo Rossi (1932-1997). Drawing was second nature to him, as shown by his unending stream of drawings, which were often very poetic, colourful and humorous, and always recognisable in a continual interplay of visual analogies.‎

‎Arman. 1954-1974.‎

‎
