Catalogue of an exhibition which took place in Taipei, Taiwan, at the Taipei International Books Exhibition, in 2006.The present catalogue includes reproductions of all Thomson's Taiwan photographs preserved in London as of all known engravings inspired by them, several maps of the period and Thomson's own captions (in english and chinese) for all images included. The title of this exhibition is explained by the fact that it brings two great photographers together across a chiasm of a hundred and thirty-four years: John Thomson, in 1871, and Yann Arthus-Bertrand, in 2005, who on this occasion graciously loaned several of his extraordinary views of "Formosa from the Air".
