(One missing label replaced with a new one, vellum a bit soiled, but still a fine/good set). J.C. Eustave, 1762-1815, was an Irish priest who mostly worked in Cambridge and as made famous by this book. This edition adds a description of Pompeii.

Recently uniformly re- bound in modern tobacco coloured half leather, Decorated spine with title and author's name in gilt lettering. Boards covered with marbled paper. Very nice binding with no traces of use. The rebinding was done keeping the original bookblock intact. Ex-library copy (Grimsby Public Library), with small rectangular stamp (in book form). Half -title of Vol. 2 with small papere restoration, Some of the plates show foxing spots. Text is stainless, no foxing. This is a complete and very well preserved copy of the first edition, in an attractive binding.."
