‎Summary Studies dealing with inequality in European societies have multiplied in recent years. ‎Récit de l'expédition qui, en 1947, visa à démontrer la possibilité d'un peuplement original de la Polynésie par des populations sud-américaines jetées à la mer par les Incas. Thor Heyerdal et ses cinq compagnons s'embarquèrent donc sur un radeau primitif et ingouvernable. Et, portés par le seul courant de Humboldt, ils parcoururent les 8.000 kilomètres qui séparent les côtes du Pérou des îles polynésiennes. Parmi l'équipage, un jeune Norvégien, Erik Hesselberg, tint un journal de l'expédition, qu'il illustra de nombreux dessins. Il en tira quelques années plus tard ce livre qui connut en son temps un très grand succès.‎
