Bound in contemporary grey boards, Copy of the title page tipped on to the front cover ( publisher's binding ?). The boards show some superficial wear giving the book a somewhat scruffy appearance but the binding is solid and sound. The interior is very clean. This is the account of an early French exploration voyage to the Arctic. The ''Hortense '' departed from Le Havre and visited the coasts of Iceland, Greenland and Scandinavia.
