" Venetiis ( Venice -Venetia), apud Haeredes Balleonios , 1849, format in-folio (40 x 25 cm). Title page with engraved vignet and typographical border printed in blue + 44 pp + 1 leaf with lithographed ills. on both sides + 548 pp + lxxxviii (88) pp + (1)(errata) + 3 full page mezzotint plates. (complete but for 1 lithograph -tabula I (?) in the introductory leaves). The missal is entirely printed in red and black, in two columns, with numerous woodcut initials, all page with a double fillet border with corner ornaments.; many pages with printed scores of music ( red printed staves, 12 per column). Bound in contemporary half roan, boards covered with marbled paper, binding with some wear but still a very good copy with a near spotless interior. The missal was probably never used. It belonged to the library of the Belgian printing house Hanicq - (later) Dessain, which collected these missals as they were themselves publishers of missals and liturgical books for the Roman Catholic Church. (Identification via a small paper label on the spine with only a number ( nr. 714). In-folio missals in this condition are very rare. The book was in daily use during the celebration of the mass which resulted after a lapse of time in heavy wear.."
