Monumental publication, one of the highlights of Belgian typography, it contains h.t. 8 original engravings by L. Le Nain, Em.Berchmans, R.Wytsman, H. Meunier, L.Titz, F. Hens, Albert Baertsoen & Eugène Lucq. It also has other plates and illustrations by F. Khnopff, X. Mellery, E.Claus, E. van Offel, C. Montald, and many others, in fact practically every important artist in this period contributed. Most of the illustrations are colour printed by the Malvaux printing house. The original idea was to commemorate the 75th year of the founding of Belgium, but the complexity of the production of this book and the outbreak of the first world war led to long delays.
