First edition. The author (1852-1935) studied at Göttingen ophtalmology, in 1887 he moved to Hamburg where he edited together with Fuchs, Vossius and Haab, the "Beiträge zur Augenheilkunde". "Deutschmann was the chief protagonist of the infective theory of sympathetic ophtalmia" (Garrison/M. 5921). - Waterstain on first five leaves, ms. name of Prof. Wolfgang Stock (1874-1956) on fly-leaf.
