Padova, Nella Stamperia del Seminario, Apresso Giovanni Manfré, 1777, small in-4°, 23,5 x 17,5 cm, xxvi + (2)(bl) + 316 pp. (Bound with) Tavole Astronomiche..., idem, 1777, iv pp + 254 pp + 10 folding plates carrying 132 engraved figures. The vignettes on both titles have been heightened with red and blue colors. Bound in contemporary half leather, smooth spine with two labels, with a small expertly restoration at top of spine spine and folds of plates, a nice copy. Giuseppe Toaldo (1719 - 1797) edited the collected works of Galilei in 1744. He strongly advocated the use of lightning rods of the Franklin system and due to his exertions the cathedral of Siena , Saint Mark's tower in Venice etc. were among the first buildings in Italy to be equipped. He was professor of astronomy at Pavia university. (1762).
