" Paris, 1731, coloured map, 480 x 700 mm. The map is based on the De L'Isle's map of the Americas. However Danet's map has a greater decorative value. The map is surrounded by portraits of the New World explorers and with Zodiac signs. The map contains a large inset panel with historical notes; other notes across the map give further geographical and historical information. The map is framed. The maps show some expertly done restorations in the upper right hand corner. Loss of paper (ca. 60 cm²) has been replaced with a manuscript replica, in the exact colouring and lettering. The fine quality restoration is hardly noticeable..."
