Este volumen reune los textos, en version revisada, de todas las ponencias presentadas para el Coloquio Internacional Literatura y poder que tuvo lugar, en los dias 22, 23 y 24 de octubre de 1993, en las sedes de la Facultad de Letras de la K.Universiteit Leuven (Lovaina) y del Centro de Estudios Mexicanos de la U.F.S.I.A. (Amberes). El coloquio, organizado por el Grupo de Lovaina, actualizo y puso en discusion el viejo pero constante "Curioso discurso sobre las armas y las letras", examinando las interferencias caracteristicas entre formas recientes de literatura y de poder. Para esta confrontacion fueron invitados no solo jovenes investigadores que por su directa implicacion en el proceso cientifico aportaron elementos recientes y puntos de vista novedosos, sino tambien profesores y especialistas europeos y latinoamericanos, que por sus trabajos y/o funcion institucional fueron o son todavia hoy testigos privilegiados de las actuales relaciones entre literatura y poder. El volumen ofrece los materiales distribuidos en tres grandes apartados: textos teoricos o de interes mas general; investigaciones especificas o de praxis textual; y -una concesion a la especialidad del Grupo de Lovaina- estudios sobre revistas. This volume contains the edited versions of the papers presented at the International Symposium on Literature and Power held at the Faculty of Arts of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and the U.F.S.I.A. Centre for Mexican Studies, October 22-24, 1993. The symposium, organized by the Leuven Group, revived the debate on the old but timeless "strange discourse on weapons and letters, by examining the characteristic interferences between recent forms of literature and power. To this confrontation were invited not only young scholars who, through their direct involvement with the scholarly process, brought with them recent insights and innovative points of view, but also European and Latin American professors and specialists whose works and/or institutional occupation have made them privileged witnesses of today's relationships between Literature and Power. The material for this volume has been grouped into three categories: texts of a theoretical or general nature; case-studies and samples of textual practice; and -as a concession to the speciality of the Leuven Group- studies on magazines. ‎
