Balthasaris Moreti, 1626, in-8vo, 128 p., title with engraved printer's device, 8 pages with woodcut figures showing inscriptions + 2 leaves, last leaf with engraved printer's device, a few initials, browning to a few leaves, engraved heraldic bookplate of the ‘Bibliothèque du Chasteau d'Ancy le Franc’, hw. former owner's names of first endpaper (part of it stricken through), full calf binding on raised bands, gilt simple line frames on spine both covers, both covers with gilt coat of arms of "Lille, Collégiale de Saint-Pierre" in Flandres, hw. title on top of spine, some staining and rubbing, a few small scratches to front cover, possibly one or more leaves were taken out at the beginning of the volume, gilt edges.
Heraldic binding for two works, the first one of these being incomplete. «Insignia gentilitia». The first part of this heraldic work, in which Chiffeletius gives the descriptions of all coats of arms of the knights of the Toison d'Or. This volume contains the preliminaries, and chapter 1-5, plus the first two pages of chapter 6. The author, born in Besançon, was physician to the Spanish king Philippe II, who charged him to write the history of the "Toison d'Or". He was also first physician to the archiduchess Isabelle-Claire-Eugénie, souvereign of the Netherlands. «Parnassi bicipitis de pace Vaticinia». According to the title page the author of this work, Jodocus de Weerdt, was mayor of the city of Antwerp. However, in a recent study on mayors of Antwerp through the centuries, with complete list of names, Jodocus de Weerdt is not mentioned.
