‎Né à Châtillon-de-Michaille (1812 - 1896), Jean-François Mermod fit sa scolarité à Châtillon puis à Chaleins près de Trévoux ; ensuite, il fit sa philosophie à Bourg, puis opta pour le grand séminaire de Brou ; pas encore prêtre, il fut nommé professeur au petit séminaire de Meximieux, puis nommé à Gex et enfin ordonné prêtre. il a mené la plus grande partie de sa carrière dans le pays de Gex.Bon exemplaire. ‎
