Paris, 1833 - 1913, large in-8°, ca. 300-400 pp per year. Year 1 - Year 81. Bound set , but bindings are not uniform , though all in dark half leather with gilt decoration on smooth spines. Three bindings have damaged spines and some bindings have slight damaged extremeties. With thousands of woodcut ills. , later on photomechanical ills. Added is the index for the first 40 years (1833 - 1872) , a fine copy in red publisher's cloth. Rare long ongoing run of this French 19th century illustrated weekly, founded by Lachevardière and Edouard Charton. The first run is relatively easy to find but from 1883 onwards (start of the second series) it is hard to find. The years published in the 20th century are extremely difficult to find. This is the arch-typical French 19th century family weekly, with short stories, general and cultural information. It is above all a pictorial goldmine for its thousands of wood engravings in the text and full page. Please inquire on the shipping price. We can offer a very interesting price for delivery in a radius of 1000 kms. around Brussels.
