‎Still Point of the Turning World Between Photography and Film . Expo: 23/6/2017 - 8/10/2017, FOMU, Antwerp‎

‎, Kehrer , 2017 Paperback, 220x170mm, 256p, 192 bw and col. illustrations English/ Dutch (NL) edition . ISBN 9783868288247.‎

‎ The photographic image is imbued with stillness. No movement, no sound, no time. But what happens if you add one of these missing elements? The Still Point of the Turning World focuses on that rare moment in which a photographer turns towards film or a video artist turns towards photography. What beauty can be found on the border between these two media? This photo-filmic book coincides with an exhibition at FOMU, Antwerp, but takes up its own position in this debate. The book shows 24 artists pairing both photographic and filmic works and includes essays by David Campany (UK) and Joachim Naudts (BE). ‎

Reference : 59447

‎HARRY GRUYAERT Between Worlds ENG.‎

‎, Thames and Hudson , 2022 Hardcover, 144 pages, ENG, 290 x 235 mm, NEW, with 75 illustrations in colour /b/w. ISBN 9780500025758.‎

‎A new collection from the award-winning Magnum photographer. A master of colour-saturated images, Harry Gruyaert has roamed the world searching for the perfect light for more than forty years. His very intuitive and physical sense of place immerses the spectator in a world that borrows simultaneously from the cinematic universe and from that of the painter. Dissolving the boundaries between the exterior and interior, Between Worlds offers just such a sensory immersion. No matter the setting, the country or the era, Gruyaert deploys a luminous alchemy suspended in time. Where are we? It doesn't matter: in Gruyaert's world, the pleasure of getting lost reigns.‎

‎Mona Kuhn ; David Campany;‎

Reference : 61792

‎Mona Kuhn : Private‎

‎, Steidl, 2014 Hardcover, 110 pages, ENG, 315 x 305 x 18 mm, dustjacket, in NEW condition ! illustrated in soft colours. ISBN 9783869307091.‎

‎For a new monograph, Private, Kuhn's fifth publication for Steidl, the photographer focused her gaze on the bleached tones and broad expanses of light that bathe the Mojave Desert, a few hours drive from her Los Angeles home. In a series of thoughtful and intimate compositions, Kuhn catalogs flora and fauna, most of it coarse-grained and engineered for survival. Landscapes are windswept and invite introspection. Hard light falls on no-nonsense structures that are built to last. Punctuated throughout these pages are female nudes, bathed in the same supple light and shadow, their faces mostly serene. As in previous series by Kuhn, the artist employs glass as a secondary lens and means of filtration and dissolution of identity, shooting her subjects from outside of structures, allowing their features to soften and meld with the reflections of the surrounding terrain. The sequencing of the images in Private is expertly tuned to tease out the complex relationship between the vulnerability of the nude female form and the rugged natural context which Kuhn employs as a backdrop. Kuhn's models are mostly supine, the softness of their luminous skin a foil and a complement to the jagged, indomitable geology of the landscape in which they find themselves. Against this backdrop, the self is by turns magnified and diminished into a dreamy, sensual phenomenology.--Kevin Greenberg "The Last Magazine "‎
