Rosenberg e 36 magnifiche tavole inc. all'acquaforte con coloritura d'epoca che raffigurano 3 classi di pesci: Les apodes // Les cartilagineux // Les baleines oltre a quelli appartenenti ai generi delle Carpes // Saumons // Boulerots // Chabots // Perches. "Prima edizione francese", tradotta dal tedesco da Laveaux, di questa sontuosa opera pubblicata tra il 1785 e il 1797 - 12 parti in 6 volumi, con complessive 432 tavole - di cui offriamo la terza parte, completa. Cfr. Nissen,ZBI,416 - Brunet,I,974: Cet ouvrage est encore les plus beau que nous ayons sur cette partie de l'histoire naturelle. - Larousse,II,p. 590 - Graesse,I,440 Marc-Eliezer Bloch (1723-1799), mdecin et naturaliste allemand.. Il a enrichi l'ichthyologie d'un ouvrage minemment classique.. "Naturgeschichte auslaendischer Fische", trad. en franais par Laveaux.. Cet ouvrage magnifique, et un des plus beaux que nous possdions sur l'histoire naturelle, fait suite au prcdent ("Oekonomische Naturgeschichte der Fische.", 1781-1784), conjointement avec lequel il renferme quatre cent trente-deux planches enlumines, reprsentant les poissons de l'Europe et des autres contres du globe. Bloch n'aurait pu terminer cette belle entreprise, sans l'assistance de plusieurs princes et riches personnages, qui se chargrent des frais occasions par la gravure des planches qui ornent les six derniers volumes (cos Biographie Medicale,II,p. 287).Testo in ottimo stato.‎

‎Berolini, Sander, 1801. 8vo. Bound in two contemporary diced calf, rebacked preserving old spines. LX, 584 pp. with 110 plates by J. F. Hennig, all but 18 handcoloured, 2 folding, a few printed in red or brown ink. Engraved and handcoloured frontispice by J. F. Hennig in second volume. The part of the text, which was unillustrated by the 110 plates, is in this copy supplemnted by the corresponding plates taken from Shaw and Nodder's ""Naturalist's Miscellany"" (in all 59 handcoloured plates). A few plates with annotations in pencil. Text with slight browning. Plates are in fine condition and excellent handcolouring.‎

‎First and only edition. Scarce. Published with additions and corrections by Schneider after Bloch's death in 1799. The 110 plates were engraved by Johann Friedrich Hennig, who was one of the engravers on the ""Ichthyologie, au histoire ... 1785-97"". Nissen 419, BMC I: 176, not in Wood. Nissen & BMC do not mention the engraved frontispiece. ‎
