The complete set comprises 5 series ; [I] June 1949 - June 1950 , issues 1-11. [II] Oct.1950-Oct.1951 , issues 1-8. [III] Déc.1951-Oct.1952. [IV] Jan. 1953-Déc.1953 , issues1-8 . [V] Febr.1954 - Déc. 1954 , issues 1-8. The complete set comprises 36 physical issues ; there being 7 double issues. The 18 loose plates consists of stencil coloured plates, lithographs, sériegraphs and one etching * ; works by Jean Dewasme , Magnelli , Vasarely, Léger , Jacques Villon, Ben Nicholson, Juan Gris, Deyrolle, Carlsund , Magnelli, Hartung, Baumeister, Sophie Tauber, André Bloc, Herbin and Jonny Friedlander*. The first loosely inserted plate occurs in issue 9 of the first series. (April 1950, issue devoted to the art of engraving). Only 300 numbered issues received a plate which could be, at random, by Boumeester , Bertholle , Chastel, Friedlander, Flocon....( 22 different artists). Complete set in fine condition of this important French avant-garde art periodical which pioneered '' Abstract Art ''. Série 4 complet. Comprising issues 1 ( = Janvier 1953) , 2 , 3-4 , 5 , 6 , 7 and 8 (= Décembre 1953). Complete with the hors texte colour seriegraphs and lithographs which were loosely inserted. All issues in very fine condition except issue 1 which has a small stain on the front cover. Fine complete fourth series of this Parisian art magazine nearly exclusively devoted to contemporary European abstract art. Many of the covers were especially designed by leading artists of those days. Also the inserts represent designs by leading artists of the first half of the 20th century. E.g.
