Full olive green morocco, both covers with gilt filets and blindtooling, gilt title on front cover, a.e.g., apart from some minor scratches and a few usual spots inside an extremely attractive copy. Roosens/Salu; History of Photography; a bibliography of books; No. 905. E.A.McCauley; Commercial Photography in Paris pp.272. A very fine copy of an important book in the history of photography. This is the first time (1853) a book is published with the photographs reproduced from albumen-on-glass negatives. The photographers were Bisson & Frères and the photographs were printed by Lemercier. The commentary was written by Charles Blanc, former French minister of Fine Arts."‎
