This is the ""discovery of the vascoconstrictor and vasodilator nerves and description of their function of regulating the blood supply to the different parts of the body.""(Garrison & Morton, No. 774).""In 1858 (the papers offered) Bernard demonstrated the existence of vasodilator nerves by finding an increased blood flow through the submaxillary gland, when the corda tympani is stimulated.
