Process toont een omvangrijke en nooit eerder gepresenteerde verzameling ontwerptekeningen van artefacten uit de periode 1500-1900 uit de collectie van het Rijksmuseum. De ontwerptekeningen in deze publicatie worden vanuit een designperspectief gepresenteerd. Niet zozeer de herkomst en de toeschrijving van de tekeningen staan centraal (zoals tot nu toe gebruikelijk was bij dit soort tekeningen) maar de functie van de tekening binnen het proces van het ontwerpen, en de praktijk van de maker door de eeuwen heen. Deze vernieuwende categorisering ontstond na jarenlang onderzoek door professor Reinier Baarsen, senior conservator van het Rijksmuseum en geeft een unieke kijk op de context waarin de tekeningen tot stand kwamen. Volg van dichtbij hoe de idee n voor allerlei spullen ontstaan, en maak kennis met de bedenkers, makers en opdrachtgevers. Vazen, stoelen, klokken, kachels, slee n en koetsen worden getoond van de eerste schetsen in potlood tot compleet uitgewerkte kleurige presentatietekeningen.
