The author has added a manuscript translation into English of the colophon '' Printed as a manuscript in 100 numbered issues and hand signed examples ( sic). This is number 4. In this publication the author proposes the construction of a large cruise-ship ( the S.S.Argo) with e.g. a concert hall of 800 seats . This ship should visit the whole world to spread the Nazi ideology and the culture of the New Germany. He worked 8 years on the project ( with collaborators ) but he managed only to work out three of the many areas in which the ship should be active : [1] the media ( press and radio ) ; [2] theatre, concert and musical life ; [3] Academic and Scientific life. On allmost every page the author cites from speaches of ''der Führer'', and on one page he writes that :''obviously the ship is a unique instrument in the sole hands of Hitler''. In the academical part he writes that mathematics and exact sciences need not to be represented '' because they are everywhere the same on the planet''. We should concentrate on German history , German education, German philosophy etc... The book was acquired in England where it must have been send by the author to an unknown British Nazi symphatiser. No other provenance information is available. Very rare, not in Worldcat.."

Commemorating the more than 25,000 Jews and Gypsies that were deported from Belgium to Auschwitz, this collection is a stunning depiction of wartime Europe. Completed with valuable photographic material obtained through relatives of the victims, this impressive and moving compendium consists of four trilingual books in Dutch, French, and English. The first book describes the context and background from which these photographs originate, while the second and third books display all archival materials. The fourth and final entry elaborates on the numerous individual stories these pictures relate, deepened by official records and personal testimonials. With more than 18,000 portraits and 100 archival illustrations, this is a powerful homage to those who lost their lives during the Holocaust.

Istanbul, Nietzsche Hayatý ve Felsefesi, 1329 [1913]. 8vo. In later embossed full cloth binding with gilt lettering to spine. Last 10 leaves with a brown spot. Frontiespiece repaired with tape, otherwise a fine and clean copy. 127, (1) pp. + portrait of Darwin.
Rare first edition of the first book on Darwinism, printed in Istanbul. The work in Ottoman language is a translation of ""Wahrheit und Irrthum im Darwinismus"" (The Truths and Mistakes of Darwinism) by Eduard von Hartmann (1842 - 1906), first published in 1875. The translator Memduh Süleyman, who also commented the book, considered the natural evolution the biggest mistake of the Darwinism. Memduh Süleyman (1889?-1920) was an important author and translator of the last years of the Ottoman Empire. His most famous work is a book on Nietzsche, ""Nietzsche Hayat? ve Felsefesi"", from 1912, which he co-wrote in together with Ahmet Nebil-Baha Tevfik-Memduh.The book was published amidst the Ottoman debate on the Darwinism. The first mentioning of the term was made in 1863 in a magazine Mecmua-i Fünun by Münif Pasha, who was at the time serving as a minister of education and did not believe, that the development of science would or should affect the religion. In the time of the publication of the present work, Darwin's works were not yet translated into Ottoman. The first translation of On the Origin of Species in the Muslim world, was only issued in Arabic in 1918 in Cairo. Translated were only the first six chapters. For more chapters were subsequently added in 1928.OCLC list three institutional examples (Leiden University Library, Library of Congress, Huntington Library, Art Museum, & Botanical Gardens).

Faint discoloration to lower part of upper wrapper. Frontispiece. 59 pp., textillustrations. Faint scattered brownspots, mainly to the first leaves. With dedication from the author on front free endpaper ""H.P./ General Baron von Bülow/ with the authors compliments."" Bülow is probably the Danish Genreral-Major Otto Chr. Severin August von Bülow (1812-95) or it could be General-Lieutnant Carl Ernst Johan Bülow (1814-1890) who was a member of the Danish legation to the English Court from 1865 to 1880. A note on the front free endpaper states, that the book in 1885 was handed over to the School of Gymnastics by General Fog. On foot of the same leaf some discoloration left over from a paperlabel.

This publication accompanies a public art project by Ymere, for which artist Niek Kemps was commissioned to make a work for the stairwell?s window of Het Sieraad; Amsterdam?s restored monument and formal crafts school for goldsmithing. Kemps? works are characterised by fragmentation. He manipulates and leads the viewer to semi-covered and layered images, which stimulate new or other interpretations. The book shows images of the window work by Kemps in addition to short essays of Elsbeth Brouwer and Philip van den Bossche.
