Bound in contemporary full leather, Edges painted red. Good copy but with small foxing spots on many pages. A near contemporary note in ink , on the first paste down, states that this book was placed on the Roman Catholic Index of forbidden books in 1696. The author was born in Kilkenny (Ireland) in 1620. He fled to the Southern Low Countries and entered the Jesuit Order in Mechelen in 1642. He teached in Louvain and Antwerp, where he died in 1693. The first edition of this book is from 1671. The work is praised for its order, conciseness and lucidity (Catholic Encyclopedia)."
