Anatoly Kornelievich Vinogradov (1888 - 1946) was a prose writer and translator. In 1912, he graduated from the Historical and Philological Faculty of Moscow University. From 1912 to 1925, he served as the director of the State Library of the USSR named after Lenin. Together with Maxim Gorky, he worked on the publication of classics of foreign literature and edited the series ""History of a Young Man of the 19th Century."" The writer gained fame for his artistic-biographical books, such as ""Three Colors of Time"" (1931) and ""The Lost Glove"" (1931), which focus on the life and work of Stendhal. He also wrote ""The Tale of the Turgenev Brothers"" (1931), about the prominent Decembrists Nikolai and Alexander Turgenev, ""The Black Consul"" (1932), about Toussaint Louverture, ""Condemnation of Paganini"" (1936), ""Byron"" (1936), and ""Stendhal and His Time"" (1938).
