First edition 8VO (22 x 14 cm); ixix, 228 pp, 6 plates including folding and double, 4 folding maps in rear pocket, bibliog, index. Original cloth, gilt vignette on both covers, gilt spine title lettering, very fine and clean in dj spine a little faded, cover and gilt bright. Besides discovering Brazil, Cabral sailed around Africa to India. Greenlee provides a comprehensive 60 page introduction that gives an historical perspective. An appendix describes the ships and personnel. There is a section on the discovery of Madagascar. Many of official documents and reproduced.
