Contemporary half red morocco, spine with 4 raised bands, gilt lettered, tooled with floral decorations marbled boards and end-papers. Richly iilustrated with 3487 wood-engraved figures of plants.

Auguste Faguet (1841-1886) was one of the greatest French botanical artists of the 19th century, who as a master of wood-engraving, contributed to many major botanical publications. A fine copy in a solid and attractive binding.
