Parisiis, Guillelmum Cavelier & Filium, 1720-1728 2 works in one: [xii], 267 (=277), [xxxiii]; [xii], 186, [xlii] pp. 12m0 (10 x 17 cm.). Contemporary marbled calf, spine with 5 raised bands, in compartments gilt tooled with floral motives, gilt lettered on red morocco label.

Garrison & Morton 2199 (for the 1709 ed.): "The 'Aphorisms' represent one of Boerhaave's best works". The first title here in the second Parisian imprint, the second is the first printed in France. Both titles have the 'Privilege du Roy', but it is the starting point of a long series of unauthorized editions of Boerhaave's works by Cavelier. These first and second French pirate editions have become quite scarce.
