A rare ensemble. Ailhaud, the greatest of all French quackers, became famous for his "Poudre". He established selling points in the major cities of France and Germany and gained a fortune with his patented "poudre". According to Jourdan, the nostrum was composed from resin, soot, and scammony. Ailhaud powders are said to have destroyed as many people as Napoleon's campaigns. After Ailhaud's dead, the quackery was successfully continued by his son Jean-Gaspard. --(The title page of Ailhaud has a small hole, not affecting the text; else some scattered light staining or foxing).
