Reliure en nacre maintenue par un rivet en argent, porte-mine en os et métal argenté rangé dans une barette latérale rivée faisant office de fermoir et relié par une chaînette comportant un anneau de maintien.‎

‎Charmant carnet de bal 19ème en nacre. Le carnet de bal fait son apparition dans les bals publics vers 1820. Il sert d'aide-mémoire à la danseuse qui y inscrit l'ordre des danses qui sont au programme de la soirée. En regard de chaque danse, elle inscrit le nom du partenaire qui s'est proposé (ou celui qu'elle a sollicité). Rapidement, son usage s'étend également aux hommes. Le présent carnet, finement ouvragé, est décoré d'une découpe en argent gravée rivetée sur le premier plat. Bel objet, parfaitement conservé. 1 vol. 18vo (65 x 39 mm.) of 5 bone sheets grooved for writing (traces of notes). Mother-of-pearl binding held in place by a silver rivet, bone and silver-plated mechanical pencil held in a riveted side bar acting as a clasp and linked by a chain with a holding ring. Charming 19th century mother-of-pearl dance card. The carnet de bal first appeared in public balls around 1820. It serves as a reminder for the dancer, who writes down the order of the dances on the program for the evening. For each dance, she writes the name of the partner who has volunteered (or the one she has asked for). She soon extended her use to men as well. This finely worked notebook is decorated with an engraved silver cutout riveted to the first cover. A beautiful, perfectly preserved object.‎
