Oblong 4to album (250 x 350 mm) of : 62 drawings and watercolors. Vintage black half-chagrin, black percaline-covered boards, Album on the front cover (Binding rubbed, tear at top cover). Beautiful album of drawings, washes and watercolors from the second half of the 19th century, probably belonging to Alexandre Massinot. It includes a sketch by Emile Jacques of his painting Rendez-vous de chasse. Most of the drawings and watercolors represent landscapes, often maritime, but also portraits (including some photographs), done in pencil, charcoal, wash or watercolor. Among the most notable drawings and watercolors are: a view of Catania in Sicily (110 x 170 mm); 4 pretty little Neapolitan gouaches, 1836 (105 x 140 mm); a wash depicting the French Division in front of Tétuan, 1859 (85 x 140 mm); a wash depicting Cassagne, 1855 (110 x 180 mm); a large drawing depicting Pau (150 x 240 mm), pen-and-ink drawings of Béarn characters and, finally, a watercolor of flowers by Marie Massinot (his niece). A very interesting, high-quality set.‎
