‎Edition originale de cette histoire debutant avec les premiers hommes et finissant avec le royaume de Chine au debut du 17éme siécle. Chevreau (1613-1701), erudit et grand passionne de voyages, fut au service de la reine Christine de Suede, precepteur du duc du Maine ainsi que de la princesse Charlotte Elisabeth, futur epouse de Monsieur, frere de Louis XIV. L'ouvrage comporte un frontispice allegorique d'apres B.-L. Boulogne grave par Simon Philippe Thomassin, 2 vignettes de titres, quelques bandeaux et lettrines histories. Biogr. univ. Chevreau (1613-1701), scholar and great travel enthusiast, was in the service of Queen Christine of Sweden, tutor to the Duke of Maine as well as Princess Charlotte Elisabeth, future wife of Monsieur, brother of Louis XIV. The work includes an allegorical frontispiece after B.-L. Boulogne grave by Simon Philippe Thomassin, 2 title vignettes, some banners and historical initials.‎
