‎ Première édition. Cet ouvrage du physicien Louis-Bertrand Castel a été publié après sa mort et compilé par J. de Laporte. Il contient la description de son célèbre "clavecin pour les yeux", une invention permettant d'associer à chaque note une couleur. Ce clavecin est décrit ici pp. 278-348. C'est, avec deux articles dans le Journal de Trévoux, la seule description publiée de ce clavecin. Contient aussi une courte biographie du Père Castel et 46 essais : sur la musique, les couleurs, le débat entre Descartes et Newton, le mouvement... et divers sujets philosophiques. It contains a description of his famous "harpsichord for the eyes", an invention that associates each note with a color. This harpsichord is described here on pp. 278-348. Along with two articles in the Journal de Trévoux, this is the only published description of the harpsichord. Also contains a short biography of Père Castel and 46 essays: on music, colors, the debate between Descartes and Newton, movement... and various philosophical subjects.
