All published of this Anti-Catholic journal. Begun in July 1827, it ceased in 1828. Brown buckram boards with gilt titles to the spine. Volumes I & 2 bound as one. Bookplate of the Law Society to the inside board. Contemporary owner's signature to the half title. Contents to the beginning of volume I. The boards are in excellent condition. The pages of the journals are very clean and tidy, with only a touch of foxing or edge wear to them. The contents are a variety of articles and letters aimed at proving the superiority of the the Protestant Faith over Popish Superstition. There is even an article on Prophecies showing the overthrow of the Roman Church in volume II. It seems that the editors didn't prophecies the demise of the journal, as it ends at the end of the final issue without any comment. ii, 1-380. 1-288 pp.

Le livre doit être lu dans un sens pour une histoire, puis retourné et lu dans l'autre sens pour la seconde histoire. Plaques rouges décorées. Les bords des pages et les pages de garde sont rouges. Magnifiques illustrations en couleurs. 64 pages. 190 x 140 mm (7œ x 5œ pouces). Illustré par John R. Neill, connu pour ses illustrations des livres OZ de L. Frank Baum. Pas de jaquette. Les planches sont un peu frottées, en particulier à la tête et à la queue du dos. Dans l'ensemble, il s'agit d'un très bon exemplaire de la première édition. Les illustrations ont d'abord été publiées en série par le Philadelphia North American Syndicate dans des suppléments du dimanche sous le titre "Children's Stories That Never Grow Old", du 1er septembre 1907 au 22 mars 1908. Reilly & Britton les a ensuite publiées en volumes individuels et dans un recueil intitulé Children's Stories That Never Grow Old (1908). 34, 34 pages. 190 x 140 mm

The boards are a little rubbed, particularly to spine head and tail. Overall a very good example of the earliest edition. The illustrations were first serialised by the Philadelphia North American Syndicate in Sunday supplements as "Children's Stories That Never Grow Old," September 1, 1907 to March 22, 1908. Reilly & Britton then issued them as single volumes, and in a collection Children's Stories That Never Grow Old (1908). 34, 34 pages. 190 x 140 mm (7œ x 5œ inches). .

The seventh volume of this Catholic & Literary monthly magazine. The magazine was founded by Rev. Matthew Russell, S.J., (1834-1912), who was the editor for almost forty years. Green cloth, with gilt and black titles and design (a harp and title in Celtic style to the front board of each volume). Stories, poems and essays. Good condition with just a little nicking / edgewear. Slight foxing to the pages. Contains the bookplate of the Library of Syon Abbey in Chudleigh - the Brigittine Monastery.

Les livres ne sont pas datés, mais leurs couvertures souples d'origine ont été conservées et reliées. Plats légèrement frottés sur les bords et pages légèrement vieillies sur les bords. Bord supérieur doré. Pierre L'Ermite était le pseudonyme du Père Edmond Louti, curé devenu chroniqueur à La Croix, et romancier à succès et prolifique. Ces livres ont été imprimés par la publication assomptionniste La Bonne Presse. 265 x 180 mm
Four works bound together in one volume. In burgundy half morocco, with marbled boards and gilt titles to spine. Text in French. Illustrations by H. Rousseau. The books are undated, but their original soft covers have been retained and bound in. Boards lightly rubbed at edges, and pages are slightly age toned at the very edges. Top edge gilt. Pierre L'Ermite was the pseudonym of Father Edmond Louti, a parish priest who became a columnist for La Croix, and a successful and prolific novelist. These books were printed by the Assumptionist publication La Bonne Presse. 265 x 180 mm (10œ x 7 inches).

Propre et bien rangé sans défauts majeurs. Couverture en papier bleu d'origine reliée. Sur le papier de la couverture avant est écrit "Par l'auteur" probablement par Seringe. Une plaque et une table pliante (complète.) Bords de page coupés grossièrement. Un peu de rousseur sur les pages uniquement. VI + 1 sqq. + 244 pp. 210 par 130 mm Nicolas Charles Seringe, d'abord Professeur à l'Académie de Berne puis Professeur de Botanique et membre de l'Académie Royale des Sciences et des Arts de Lyon a écrit un ouvrage avec la description exacte, la classification et l'histoire des fleurs. Il a cherché à éviter le langage scientifique et à ranger les objets dans un ordre facile, à travers lequel on peut facilement en apprendre davantage sur les plantes, comment les propager et enfin comment les utiliser.

Original blue paper wrapper bound in. To the front cover paper is written "Par l'auteur" presumably by Seringe. One plate and one folding table (complete.) Rough cut page edges. A little foxing to the pages only. VI + 1 ff. + 244 pp. Text in French. 210 x 130 mm (8Πby 5 inches). Nicolas Charles Seringe, first Teacher at the Academy of Bern then Professor of Botany and member of the Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts of Lyon wrote a work with the exact description, classification and history of flowers. He sought to avoid scientific language, and to arrange the objects in an easy order, through which one can easily learn about plants, how to propagate them and finally how to use them.
