Cet ouvrage de vulgarisation scientifique, par le fabricant et marchand d'instruments Benjamin Martin (c.1705-1782), a été publié à l'origine en 1735 (Londres, J. Noon). L'auteur y aborde les questions de physique, d'astronomie, de météorologie, de géologie, etc. Martin fut l'un des premiers défenseurs de Newton, à qui il consacra une biographie (The Life of Newton, 1764). ‎New Italian edition of a much esteemed and popular English work of vulgarized science, translated from the French. The plates show planets and orbits, the solar system of Copernic, gravity specific to mass and fluids, machines, instruments, and experiments, observations through the microscope, a map showing winds and monsons, etc. The first English edition was published in 1735.
