‎---- EDITION ORIGINALE ---- BEL EXEMPLAIRE ---- BEL ENVOI autographe de RENAUDIN au Docteur TOURDES ainsi libellé : "A Mr Le Docteur G. TOURDES, Professeur à la vaculté de médecine de Strasbourg - Souvenir d'amitié -- signé E. RENAUDIN" ---- "RENAUDIN was, like MOREL, typical of the french tradition and of the spirit of his psychiatric generation. In this work, he insisted on the psychosomatic duality of man and saw in mental disease an automatism which take the place of spontaneity. He made some keen observations on hallucinations and was on the verge of formulating the concept of the total personality. According to Renaudin the three basic formes of psychological expression were feeling, understanding, and acting (behaving). Consequently : Impressionability, intelligence, will, these are, if we may express ourselves this way, three distinct psychological entities, yet they always act in concert so that it is impossible in most cases to distinguish in every fact which of these elements is more prominent . They all act as a unitary bundle . A mental disease is characterized by the breakdown of this unitary functioning". (Zilboorg p. 401/402) ---- Semelaigne I p. 327**4441/F2-4442/CART.11‎
