Exceedingly rare first edition of Rosenkrantz’ political treatise in which he criticizes Swedish actions during the conflicts between Denmark and Sweden in the early 17th century, accusing the Swedes of treachery and violating treaties. Rosenkrantz's arguments aim to justify Denmark's position and actions in these conflicts to an international audience. Gunde Rosenkrantz (1604 - 1675), son of Holger Rosenkrantz, was a Danish statesman. He ardently advocated for initiating a new war against Sweden and authored several writings against the northern neighbor and its war crimes against Denmark. However, creditors pursued him, and he saw no alternative but to flee to Sweden, where the Danish patriot applied to become a Swedish subject, but in vain. He died in misery in Helsingborg unwelcome in both Denmark and Sweden. Biblioteca Danica III, 107.Not Thesaurus
