In addition to the geographic results, the expedition provided a wealth of information on the customs and habits of the native tribes in those territories. It is the account of Scott's fatal Antarctic expedition on the Terra Nova. The first volume comprises Scott's journal and reprints the farewell letters found by his side. Sur les 65 membres de lexpédition, seulement une équipe réduite de 5 explorateurs arrivent au Pole Sud le17janvier1912, plusieurs semaines après Amundsen. Comme chacun le sait, léquipe de Scott ne reviendra jamais. Leurs notes et journaux publiés ici, sont retrouvés huit mois plus tard par une équipe de recherche, et permettent de comprendre les détails de cette tragique expédition. ‎
