1891 v, 280 p., 7 tinted lithographed plates, large 4to, modern orange cloth with gilt title on spine. The vast majority of the ant species are described here for the first time. The plates are very detailed. A rather nice copy with broad margins. Plates with a faint waterstain in the right corner (only affecting one figure in first two plates), some foxing and soiling in the first 20 and last few pages, otherwise good. Rare. Cat. The whole ant-section, with many new species, from this highly esteemed series of zoological contributions to the unique fauna of Madagascar. Each part was written by a specialist, in this case the Swiss entomologist and psychiatrist Auguste Henri Forel (1848-1931). The complete text and plates. Spotting and soiling to the half title and pages 5-12. Plate 7 slightly foxed and right margin frayed due to larger size of this plate compared to the others. Rare. Nissen ZBI, 3602.
