1923-1924 Four parts in four. loose-leaved (14.0 x 9.0 cm), each with one text leaf, and five full colour (post)cards, and one pictorial envelope. In 1922, the British Museum (Natural History) started issuing a series of postcard and greetingcard sets; in the early years usually consisting of five full-colour cards relating to one zoological subject, and some descriptive text. This series was continued at least to the year 2003, when the 299th set was published. Because of the ephemeral character of these attractive and scientifically correct illustrations, these early cards have become quite rare. Of the Exotic Butterflies, the envelope is present. The other two sets are without envelope, and preserved in transparent maps. All cards are nice and clean.
1940 xi, 729 p., 770 text figures (some full page), original green blindstamped cloth with gilt title on spine. The "all-you-want-to-know about spiders and scorpions" book, including the tarantula, black widow and much more. Also useful for identification purposes. Stamp on front pastedown, two tiny worm holes in the spine but otherwise a very good copy.
1997-1999 Three parts in four. 566 p., hardbound with gilt titles on spine and front board (the main work), paperbound (the index and addenda). A very useful catalogue on this huge part of the world. This catalogue of the spiders of Russia comprises almost 2700 species belonging to 473 genera and 49 families. There is also a bibliographical index with 1900 cited works. The supplements contain later publications, previously overlooked papers. All parts have English prefaces and contain a handy list of Cyrillic letters and their pronunciation, etc. Addendum 1 is in photocopy. A good clean, complete set.
