Publ. no. 12.The Imperial Bureau of Mycology was established in 1920 as a centre for accumulating and disseminating information on plant pathogenic fungi in the British empire and for undertaking systematic research into such fungi. It was initially based in Kew, but in 1930 moved ito the Royal Botanic Gardens, and was renamed the Imperial Mycological Institute. In 1948, it changed its name to the Commonwealth Mycological Institute and in 1986 to the International Mycological Institute. In 1998 it was assimilated by CAB International. Their publications ''Mycological Papers'' began with no. 1, published in 1925; ceased with no. 176, published in 2001.
