1 volume in-12 (17,5 cm x 10,5 cm), demi-chagrin rouge (reliure de l’époque), dos à nerfs orné de motifs dorés. [4]-352 pages (complet). Frottements la reliure, rousseurs éparses, feuillet 3ii déchiré. État correct. Seconde édition. Exemplaire avec envoi autographe signé : “À Monsieur Charles Edmond, affectueuse sympathie, Octave Feuillet”.Octave Feuillet (1821-1890), est un romancier et dramaturge français, surnommé le « Musset des familles ». Membre de l'Académie française, il connut ses premiers grands succès en 1852, avec son roman Bellah et une comédie, La Crise. Tous deux furent réimprimés dans la Revue des Deux Mondes, publication prestigieuse où parurent également un grand nombre de ses romans ultérieurs. D’autres œuvres furent acclamées comme La Petite Comtesse (1857), Dalila (1857) et Le Roman d’un jeune homme pauvre qui fut très populaire (1858). Agréable exemplaire.

40 EAUX-FORTES AVEC SUITE EN NOIR D'UN EXCELLENT PEINTRE ANIMALIER. Édition originale de l'illustration de Maurice de Becque, avec 40 eaux-fortes en couleurs (24 au premier volume et 16 au second). Tirage limité à 200 exemplaires, celui-ci l'un des 100 exemplaires sur Hollande (n°103) enrichis d'une suite en noir. Il a également été tiré 12 exemplaires sur Japon ancien avec cuivre, suites, et aquarelles originales ; 60 exemplaires sur Japon impérial contenant 2 suites ; 10 exemplaires sur Hollande contenant une suite, une aquarelle originale et un cuivre ; et 18 exemplaires hors-commerce. Maurice Jaubert de Becque (Saumur : 1878 - Plougasnou : 1938) est particulièrement apprécié pour son travail de peintre animalier ; en plus du Roman de Renart, il illustre également Le Livre de la Jungle (1924-25) et L'Appel de la forêt (1931). Quelques frottements aux étuis, notamment aux coins et aux pièces de titre. Petite tache à la première planche de la suite.

Jean-Charles-Emmanuel Nodier (1780-1844), écrivain, romancier et académicien français. On lui attribue une grande influence dans la naissance du mouvement romantique. Plaisant exemplaire.

Summary Roman Imperial denarii from the first-third cen turies AD are, almost without exception, the most common ancient coinage to be found in Central, Northern, and Eastern Europe beyond the Roman limes. Perhaps surprisingly, however, a signifi cant percentage of these coins are in fact coun terfeit, comprised largely of denarii subaerati (plated denarii, fourr es) and denarii flati (base-metal cast copies). Moreover, these fake coins were not only manufactured by Romans them selves, but also by barbarian peoples in Eastern Europe, far from the Roman limes, in what should be considered a mass-scale phenomena. This volume draws together archaeologi cal, numismatic, and historical research in order to offer a new assessment of the production and use of counterfeit Roman Imperial denarii both within the European provinces of the Roman Empire and in European Barbaricum. Drawing on the results of the research project Barbarian Fakers. Manufacturing and Use of Counterfeit Roman Imperial Denarii in East-Central Europe in Antiquity, from the University of Warsaw, the papers gathered here explore the transfer of ideas, technology, and finished products that led to the transfer of counterfeit coinage across the Empire, and shed light on how, why, and when such coins were created and used.
