Thomas Blackwell (1701-1757) was a distinguished classical scholar and historian but also counted among the luminaries of the Scottish Enlightenment. This seminal work, "Memoirs of the Court of Augustus" firmly established his reputation as a leading figure of his time. Following Blackwell's demise, John Mills undertook the task of continuing and finalizing the third volume, which saw publication in 1763.Renowned for its portrayal of significant historical figures through authentic antiquities, Blackwell's work garnered acclaim upon its release.
