(Paris, De l'Imprimerie de la Veuve Ballard & Fils, 1780). Three pieces in one volume. 30 pp; 20 pp; 4 pp. 4to. Modern half morocco, marbled boards, gilt lettering to spine. First editions. These three pieces of this trial are for the most part by Prevost de Saint-Lucien who greatly promoted the idea of charitable institutions. The trial itself deals with the freedom of poor marchants to sell their goods at designated places and illuminate their small tables with candles. Some responsible for maintaining order thought that this form of illumination of the small table and selling goods should be suppressed although a royal decree allowed the merchants to earn a living. Notes and copies of the relevant decrees etc. are included as printed notes. - Two leaves with a small repair in the inner blank margin.
