Contemporary marbled calf, spines richly gilt with red and green labels, gilt lettering, all edges red, upper compartment of volume 4 with small damage. The Encyclopédie Méthodique was a reworking of the famous Encyclopédie of Diderot and d'Alembert, containing most of the articles from that work with additions and corrections. Its chief novelty was that the whole work was divided into subject categories, making every subject thus more accesible. All these parts form an independent work on particular subjects. The major part of the work was done by Demeurier who was assisted by Desbois de Rochefort and Grivel. The major subjects here are agriculture, population and political economy. ‎
